clinics & positional training
Positional training sessions provide elite training from our DUCKS HIGH PERFORMANCE coaching staff so athletes can focus on specific aspects of various positions in volleyball. Positional training is for 14U-18U MALE and FEMALE athletes, and is open to athletes from any club. Training will focus on building a stronger well rounded TECHNICAL FOUNDATION, enhancing TACTICLE KNOWLEDGE, and understanding of DUCK SYSTEMS. Training will implement skills through various game situations, and will take place in a positive, collaborative and competitive environment for a much deeper level of learning. High coach to athlete ratio to ensure hundreds of meaningful contacts will take place, and appropriate feedback is delivered to each of our athletes.

Athletes will be placed into groups based on their age, skill and ability levels to ensure the training they receive meets their needs. Groups will be created at the discretion of the program director

IMPORTANT - ALL Athletes are required to register as Volleyball BC Recreational members in order to participate. Once your registration has been confirmed, you will be send a club-specific link to register. Cost is approx $13 DO NOT REGISTER AS A VBC MEMBER BEFORE YOUR ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM IS CONFIRMED BY THE DUCKS – You will be sent a confirmation email along with a club-specific link to register. Registration as a VBC member must be done AFTER Aug 31 in order to be valid for the upcoming program. Registering as a VBC member is NOT REQUIRED to register in Fall Prep Sessions – it is completed AFTER. If you are a current VBC member, your membership expires at the end of August – you will be asked to renew after this date. The amount that you pay for membership will be valid for any program for the upcoming year. If you play club volleyball, the amount is deducted from your required full VBC membership fee.
SETTER CLINIC
This is an intermediate/advanced level training opportunity for setters to learn and develop SPECIFIC SKILLS necessary to be an elite setter. Training will focus on footwork, hands, technique, tactics and leadership. Learning how to consistently SET TO LOCATIONS with VARYING TEMPOS and making correct TACTICAL CHOICES of where to set in matches will be a focus.
*Athletes must have a minimum 1 season of indoor club experience AS a setter to participate (2023 recent season)– This program is not an introduction to setting. It is not appropriate for athletes who have not played as a setter before.

OUTSIDE HITTER | Positional | KILLER DUCK TRAINING
This is an intermediate/advanced level training opportunity for outside attackers to learn and develop SPECIFIC SKILLS necessary to be an elite outside hitter and a #KILLERDUCK. In order for teams to be successful at the highest levels, it is critical that outside hitters have the ability to play all 6 ROTATIONS and develop a COMPLETE SKILL set in both the front and back row. Training will focus on attacking, transition, blocking, passing and defense.

This is an intermediate/advanced level training opportunity for athletes to learn and develop SPECIFIC SKILS necessary to be an elite passer and defender and a #DIGGINGDUCK #DUCKSPASSDIMES. FIRST CONTACT dictates a team’s level of play and ultimately, success, training it is essential. Great teams also play great defense, take this rare opportunity to add a new level to your DEFENSIVE TOOLBOX. aTTACKING AND tRANSITION
This is an intermediate/advanced level training opportunity for attackers to learn and develop SPECIFIC SKILLS necessary to be an elite attacker and a #KILLERDUCKS. In order for teams to be successful at the highest levels, it is critical that attackers have the ability to attack with range, adapt to various situations, transition to attack from different areas of the court, and score using a COMPLETE ATTACKER TOOLBOX. Training will have a deeper advanced focus on: Arm Swing + Footwork Mechanics | Various Transition Movements | Attacking Toolbox | Killer Duck Mindset

LIBERO / DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST | LIBERO LAB
This is an intermediate/advanced level training opportunity for liberos and defensive specialists to learn and develop SPECIFIC SKILLS necessary to be an elite backcourt player and a #DIGGING DUCK. Training will focus on fundamental and advanced techniques required for SERVE RECEIVE, DEFENDING and SETTING SECOND BALL SITUATIONS. Learning how and what to read in the game will be a focal point.
*Athletes must have a minimum 1 season of indoor club experience to participate. This program is not an introduction to the libero and defensive specialist position. It is appropriate for athletes with playing experience who are currently playing this position and/or want to do so in the future.

REGULAR REFUND POLICY
The Ducks’ policy is that no refunds will be given once programs have commenced. It is club policy that refunds will ONLY be given under specific extenuating circumstances. Return of the registration fee must be approved by the registrar and will be prorated if the sessions have already begun. Refunds are subject to:
- a $40 cancellation fee
- prorated amount, based on the amount of sessions elapsed
- deduction of unrecoverable costs (ie. facility fees, affiliation fees, equipment, etc.)
- refunds will not be given for sessions cancelled due to inclement weather or athlete missed sessions
