Junior Ducks is a co-ed all skills training program, for beginner to intermediate athletes, where they will develop and grow in a fun and challenging learning environment. The focus of the training will be to teach the fundamentals of volleyball: passing, setting, serving, attacking and defense, and athletic development. 

We have 2 primary goals with this program: 1) To introduce male and female athletes to the game of volleyball, and to grow their passion for the game 2) To provide the athletes the tools and pathway they require to play school and club volleyball

Junior Ducks, when possible (based on gym space) and/or necessary (dependent on athletes ability and/or needs) will be grouped based on athletes ability to ensure they are receiving appropriate training. Please identify your level when registering:

  • Level 1 – Athlete has limited to no experience (this includes athletes who have only participated in school programs and/or programs similar to Atomic). Athlete has 0 – 1 years of experience. 
  • Level 2 – Athlete has previous club volleyball experience (this includes athletes who have participated in previous Ducks training and/or similar programs). Athlete has 1+ years of experience.


Programs are offered throughout the year, the estimated months of training are below, however, are subject to change based on gym availability and demand:

  • Fall (September to November) – Registration OPENS in July
  • Winter (January to March) – Registration OPENS in November 
  • Spring (April to June) – Registration OPENS in February
  • Summer – Beach Volleyball (May to July) – Registration OPENS in March

9U - 10U Junior Ducks Fall Prep | CO-ED (2013-2012)

Junior Ducks 9U – 10U is a co-ed all skills training program, for beginner to intermediate athletes, where they will develop and grow in a fun and challenging learning environment. This program is our earliest introduction to volleyball, and is soley focussed on teaching athletes basic skills, athletic movements, and growing their passion for the game. Training will take place on a smaller court, with a smaller number of athletes, competition will be 2 v 2 and 3 v 3 modified games to ensure all athletes can learn and practice all positions and skills.

PROGRAM NOTES & EXTRA INFO

  • There are no tryouts for this program. All athletes from all clubs are welcome.
  • Group placement is at the discretion of the camp director.
  • This program is very popular. Sign up quickly. If it is full, please sign up on the waitlist.
  • There are no refunds for missed sessions.
  • Athletes can join our Junior Ducks programs at any time, regardless if they have any previous experience.
    Our programs are flexible and adaptive.
  • IMPORTANT - ALL Athletes are required to register as Volleyball BC Recreational members in order to participate. Once your registration has been confirmed, you will be send a club-specific link to register. Cost is approx $13 DO NOT REGISTER AS A VBC MEMBER BEFORE YOUR ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM IS CONFIRMED BY THE DUCKS – You will be sent a confirmation email along with a club-specific link to register. Registration as a VBC member must be done AFTER Aug 31 in order to be valid for the upcoming program. Registering as a VBC member is NOT REQUIRED to register in Fall Prep Sessions – it is completed AFTER. If you are a current VBC member, your membership expires at the end of August – you will be asked to renew after this date. The amount that you pay for membership will be valid for any program for the upcoming year. If you play club volleyball, the amount is deducted from your required full VBC membership fee.

11U - 12U JUNIOR DUCKS FALL PREP | CO-ED (2011-2010)

Junior Ducks 11U – 12U is a co-ed all skills training program, for beginner to intermediate athletes, where they will develop and grow in a fun and challenging learning environment. This program is focussed on helping prepare and give athletes tools they need for school and club volleyball, as well as 6 vs 6 gameplay, while growing their passion for volleyball. Athletes will be work on technical development in game-like situations, be introduced to volleyball systems and concepts, while developing their overall ball control. Training will take place with an evolving court size, with a smaller number of athletes, competition will be 4 v 4 and 6 v 6 modified games to ensure all athletes can learn and practice all positions and skills.

Athletes and families are required to fully read and understand our RETURN TO PLAY AND SAFETY PLAN prior to registering in our programs.

In addition to our return to play, we will be requiring athletes to self-screen before particåipating in any league play.

Our covid-19 protocols include the following:

  • Enhanced cleaning of equipment
  • all PHO will be strictly adhered to
  • No spectators at this time, only participants are allowed on the field of play and must maintain social distancing off the court.

We will adjust all programming and league play as required should the Provincial regulations and our provincial sporting organization require any modifications

Participants must stay home if:

  • they don’t feel well or are displaying symptoms of COVID-19
  • someone in their household has COVID-19 or is showing symptoms of COVID-19
  • they have traveled outside of British Columbia within the last 14 days
  • someone in their household has traveled outside of British Columbia within the last 14 days
  • they have been in contact with a known/presumptive case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days

REGULAR REFUND POLICY

The Ducks’ policy is that no refunds will be given once programs have commenced. It is club policy that refunds will ONLY be given under specific extenuating circumstances. Return of the registration fee must be approved by the registrar and will be prorated if the sessions have already begun. Refunds are subject to:

  • a $40 cancellation fee
  • prorated amount, based on the amount of sessions elapsed
  • deduction of unrecoverable costs (ie. facility fees, affiliation fees, equipment, etc.)
  • refunds will not be given for sessions cancelled due to inclement weather or athlete missed sessions

COVID-19 REFUND POLICY

In the event that a program must be shut down due to a confirmed case of Covid-19, participants will receive a pro-rated discount for the remainder of the sessions less unrecoverable costs.
